Peeta is mad at Katniss before the games becuase Katniss is under estimating herself. She thinks htat she will die and that one of the "Career Tributes" will win. Little does she know that Peeta's mom thinks that Katniss will win the hunger games over her son. This makes Peeta mad becuase his mom doesn't think he will win and that Katniss will win and Katniss has no faith in herself. Katniss also recieved a score of 11/12 from the judges and this was the highest score and she still doughts herself.
Peeta is mainly mad at Katniss because Katniss is positive that she doesnt stand a chance and will be one of the first participants to be killed. Peeta is also mad as, his own mom, belevies more in Katniss to win the Hunger Games then her own son. OUCH! Katniss begins to gain more faith in herself, as she hit the apple in the traning session dead on. She later recieved a 11/12 from the judges, which turned out to be the highest score given to a participant.

Second is that she knows that she couldn't kill Peeta and eventually Rue later in he games because she had grown attached. Katniss also doesn't take pride in her abilities in hunting. This is why Peeta is angry. He has strength, but it doesn't match Katniss's skills; his own mother even told him so.
