Primrose is Katniss's only sibling (sister). Since the death of their father Katbni's mother has basically dissapeard from the family. She spends endless amounts of days in her room sad and despressed because of the loss of her husband. The actions of her mother has left Katniss with the role of being a sister for her sister Prim. Katniss goes out and hunts to bring food to the table to keep them alive. Prim is the only family member left basicaly and is the only one who Katniss trusts. She is alwats there for Katniss needs her the most and she never does anything bad. Prim is so important to Katniss becuase Katniss knows that Prim will never leave her and will always be there in her life without disappearing liek there mother.

All she does is read books and eat as she is still recovering of the tragic event. Therefore Katniss is left in charge to take control of the family. She has to go out and hunt for food to put on the table, and whenever Prim needs help, she can always count on Katniss to help her with whatever that is bugging her. Prim is so important to Katniss because Prim knows that she'll always have her big sister there, and that Katniss would never leave her life.

Mrs. Everdeen has been in a mental breakdown since Mr. Everdeen's tragic mine accident adn has been a hindering Katniss in the fact she still has to feed her. The main reason that Prim is so important is that she is the only person that can make Katniss happy. Katniss had to volunteer for Prim because right before the reaping she stated that since it was Prim's first time and that her name was only in there once she wouldn't be picked.
